A Different Kind of Hero...

About the Author: My name is Sarah and I'm 12 years old. I live in California near the beaches, the mountains and the desert! I enjoy reading, writing, singing and just hanging out with my friends and family. I make bracelets and donate all my proceeds to the Leukemia fund. I've donated my hair twice to the Locks of Love foundation and I'm growing my hair out again (almost there!). I'm involved with choir at school and was just in our school musical "Cinderella." I like scrapbooking and stamp collecting. I love the beach in the summer, but I love the winter because I can cozy up and read a good book. I love babies too, I love to cut out pictures and tape them up on my bedroom door! Someday I'm going to be the greatest babysitter!

My Favorite Book of All Time Is…. Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech

I like to write because… I like writing stories and poetry, because I like developing characters and making a life and story about them. Writing is sometimes an outlet for my emotions. Sometimes I can make a whole story from just a name. I like to imagine fairy lands and exotic countries. Sometimes I like to just write an emotional journey for one of my characters, they don't necessarily have to travel anywhere.

Excerpt from her poem...
My hero doesn't give up on me.
If I need to talk, or I need a helping hand, or if I just want to go to the beach and feel the sand…it doesn't matter to her,
She'll be there.
