First Day Of School Outfit
written by: Hannie_Lin, 18, CA

"What should I wear, Sharon?" Jennifer asked her older sister. It was the very first day of middle school and she wanted to wear cool clothes so she´d make a good "first impression". Jennifer pulled out every single piece of clothing she owned and showed them to Sharon. Sharon brushed her dark brown hair out of her face and said, "Well, it needs to be cool, but not too flashy or anything. When I started Junior High, I wore dark jeans, a white shirt with a cute duck character on it, and a light blue jacket. Mary Marquez wore something too flashy. She wore this tight, too small shirt that was pink and said DON´T BOTHER ME, a really short dark red skirt, and this thin so called jacket that was white and see through. So of course, people could see her arms and stuff under her jacket. She also wore dark, red high heeled shoes. Nobody fell for the outfit. Some people said it wasn´t cool." Jennifer bit her lip and worried. What if she was like Mary? "Just wear normal clothes that are comfortable, casual, and cool to you. It´ll work. That´s what I did." Jennifer nodded and pulled out light blue jeans, a white shirt with do dogs doing karate against each other (the dogs were drawing, not real dogs), and a white jacket. She´d wear her new white sneakers for her shoes. "Nice," Sharon commented, "Wear those." Sharon got up from Jennifer´s bed, of which she had been sitting on, and left the room. Jennifer smiled as her soon-to-be-in tenth grade sister left the room. Then she folded her first day of school clothes up, and put them on the table next to her bed. Then she put away her clothes. The first day of school went great. Jennifer and her friends had most of the same classes and they had a lot of fun. After that day, Jennifer always knew what to wear: Something comfortable, casual, and cool to herself.
