Did you know your body image can affect how your daughter feels about herself?
Without even realizing it, sneaking frequent peaks in the mirror to "check" yourself or commenting frequently on your own or on other women's weight or other physical features teaches your daughter to dissect her own appearance or to compare herself to other girls in this manner as well. Girls are typically taught to be modest about themselves couple this with the extreme obsession for female perfection that advertising, t.v. and other media often depicts, and girls can help but feel confused about celebrating their unique beauty and often experience an acute sense of failure to achieve the narrowly defined beauty ideal that society seems to expect of them.
