Did you know that giving in to begging and whining may increase the very behavior you want to stop?
When "no" doesn´t mean no, children learn to bargain and come to believe that everything is negotiable, especially when using manipulative strategies. When a child gets what they want after "throwing a fit," she learns that this strategy has worked to access what she wants and she´s likely to use it again when faced with a "no" from you. Children need to learn to cope with being told "no" and they need to build their trust in that you have the good sense and confidence in your decisions to stay in charge.
