CONVINCING PARENTS TO GET A PET
By: Arisheniah, 10, (aka deoxys123)

I never ever had a pet in my life, not even fish. So I started reading books about rabbits. The one thing that convinced my parents the most was that they were clean animals (means that they don’t do accidents everywhere). Another thing is responsibility. My sister and I said that we would do all of the work. We will clean and wash out the cages, feed it, refill its water bottle, and let it have exercise. The third thing is that during school we will put it in its big cage with a toy so it won’t be bored. We also need to know how to hold it. I also need to pay 1/4 of the vet bills. So we went to the pet store to see the pets. That’s when I spotted the rabbits. They were only $29.99! I could pay for them myself. I showed my dad the pets and he’ll say we’re going to get it in two weeks. I’ve also told my dad I did 5 1/2 weeks of research. So all it takes is some research and convincing. These are the steps to get a pet.

WHICH PET IS BEST FOR YOU?
By: Kelsey, 11, (aka sallypye)

Are you thinking about getting a pet? Are you having trouble deciding which one is best for you? I have your answer (hopefully). Do you want a pet, but are afraid you won’t have a lot of time for it? I suggest a small animal, then. A fish, guinea pig, rat or mouse, would be good.

If you do have time on your hands, but don’t want your pet to take up your entire life, here’s what I suggest... a small kitten, rabbit, or turtle.

If you’re positive you’ll be able to care, nurture, and spend tons of time with your pet, I suggest a dog. Pets are a lot of responsibility. I would know because I have 3 dogs.

Even though pets are a bit of trouble, it’s all worth it when you look into the face of someone who always wants to be with you. Trust me, it’s a great feeling!
