NATIONAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY OCTOBER 27TH
Everyone
listen up because now it is your turn to
make a difference! On October 27, 2007,
it is National Make a Difference Day.
Last year, 3 million people decided to
volunteer on this day and help out in
their communities. Created by USA
Weekend Magazine and supported by Paul
Newman (you know, the man on the salad
dressing bottle), anyone can get
involved no matter how young or how old
you are. We all know it feels good to
help others, and this time, you might
even win an award! After you volunteer
on October 27, log
on to the USA Weekend website and
submit your entry form. In April of
2008, people who have done outstanding
projects will be given awards. Paul
Newman will also donate $10,000 to 10
different projects with a grand total of
$100,000 in donations!
If you are having trouble thinking of a way you
can participate in this day, don’t worry because by
visiting the
USA Weekend website you can personalize your own
make-a-difference day. Plus, for the rest of
October, the Miss O Scoop will feature stories on
how other girls are helping in their communities to
give you even more ideas. We hope you participate
because helping out the community is more rewarding
than you think! |
