And So It Goes...
May 20, 2008
This is what it all comes down to. Tonight was the final performance night in the competition and I have to say that I didn't completely agree with the judges. Maybe it's my bias, have I metioned that I'm for David Cook? Or maybe it's just that my ears are deceiving me. But after three performances for each contestant, the judges handed each round to David Archuleta, and I just didn't feel that was true.
David Cook kicked things off with a performance of 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For,' a U2 classic. And I thought it was fan-tabulous! His second performance was the newly written, just for 'Idol' song, 'Dream Big.' The song was actually a GREAT choice for David Cook and I thought it really showed his rocker side. Lastly he dusted off Collective Soul's 'The World I Know,' and while, I, personally delighted in the performance, I have to say I think that he blew a chance to collect some more votes.
David Archuleta's first performance was 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me.' And I wasn't as impressed by it as the judges, I thought it was good but I thought David Cook won round 1. I also wasn't a HUGE fan of his second choice, 'In This Moment.' It was sappy, and predictable and completely boring. Lastly he showed his stuff with 'Imagine.' While the performance didn't render me weak, like the first time he did it, it DID seal the deal and I worry that he might have ended up on top right then and there.
It's been a long and FUN season. How do you feel? Who do you think should win, who do you WANT to win? TELL ME! TELL ME!
