I'm still mourning the loss of Michael Johns as a contestant, so let me have a moment of peace ...

Now that that's out of the way, I'll move on to the performances. This week was coached by Mariah Carey. Which I found a bit odd. I know that she's pushing her album and she's a logical choice for a coach, but her songs are so difficult to sing. In the history of 'American Idol', they've always recommended against singing Mariah songs. Whether you like Mariah as a singer or not, you can't deny that she's got one of the most amazing voices.

I really thought each remaining contestant did well, and I was really pleasantly surprised. The judges seemed to feel the same way, only having negative comments for a few contestants. Performance of the night goes to my man, David Cook! He takes some great risks with his performances, and never lets go of his true self. I'm so impressed with him, week after week.

If I had to pick a bottom three, based solely on tonight's performances, I'd say that it should be: Brooke White, Kristy Lee Cook and Carly Smithson. I really think Carly Smithson might be going home, she's been in the bottom three before and as much as I really like her, she doesn't seem to be a favorite.
