It Wasn't So Easy for Poor Chikezie
March 31, 2008
I'll admit it, I liked Chikezie. There was just something so friendly about his face and I was sad to see him go. I didn't think he'd win the whole thing, but I thought he could have stuck around a bit longer and entertained us some more. Am I the only one, did any of you like Chikezie, too?
As for last week's performances, I thought that David Cook's performance of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' (based on a rendition previously done by Chris Cornell) was the BEST! It gave me chills and really left me in awe of his raw talent. David reminds me a bit of Chris Daughtry, though a little bit more hard rock. Anyone agree with me? The only problem I had with the performance was that it was not properly credited to Chris Cornell and David seemed to get a lot of praise for being brilliant with the arrangement, when in fact he was not the total mastermind behind it. That being said, he still had the BEST performance of the night and really blew my socks off.
I thought David Archuleta's song choice was goofy, the song sounded like a pop anthem that some silly pop group, believe me I LOVE pop music, would have done. He didn't show us anything new vocally and in fact he left me a little annoyed. Did you like his song? Yet, I can't shake his prior performance of John Lennon's 'Imagine' and somehow I still think he might win the whole thing!
Another standout performance for me was Michael John's performance of 'We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions,' originally done by Queen. Michael is one of my favorites, I will admit. I think I have a thing for accents this year because I also really like Carly Smithson. Enough about me, who's your favorite Season 7 'American Idol' contestant? Shoot me an e-mail with your thoughts on the contestants to idolmania@MissOandFriends.com and we might post your comment (include your screenname, age and state or country).
This week the remaining nine will be coached along by Dolly Parton, which means there will be a country vibe to the tunes. Simon usually hates country week, so this should be fun!
