Surprising Fact: Several years ago, Jordin competed against ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner on a talent show called ‘America’s Most Talented Kids’. Jordin sang and Taylor did martial arts, but they were both beat by a violinist!

One Step at a Time
Jordin Brianna Sparks was born on December 22nd 1989, and it wasn’t long before she found her life’s passion, singing. She began singing at 18 months and hasn’t stopped since! “I’m learning more every day,” says the ‘Battlefield’ singer, “but one thing I know for sure is that to sing for my job is the best thing in the world.”

Throughout her childhood and teen years, the homeschooled singing sensation and daughter of an NFL football player, competed in many talent competitions including ‘Torrid’s Next Plus Size Model’. Jordin won the competition and was featured in an ad in ‘Seventeen’ magazine. Awesome!

American Idol
Jordin first grabbed the hearts of America when she appeared on Season 6 of ‘American Idol’. Her powerful voice quickly made her a fan favorite with a loyal group of fans nicknamed ‘Sparkplugs’.

Jordin beat out thousands of competitors to became the youngest ever ‘American Idol’! “Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever processed all that happened. I did a show that I was a huge fan of and won,” says Jordin in her typically humble style.

Battlefield
Jordin has never fit the typical size 0 standard of Hollywood beauty. She recently came under criticism when diet expert MeMe Roth made hurtful comments that Jordin was overweight and unhealthy.

But Jordin stood her ground and didn’t let the comments faze her. “I’m not ever going to be a size 2. I would look so weird” says the size 12 singer.

Jordin learned to love her curves and she wishes other girls would too. “It makes me so sad. I wish they would put more real people out there because not everybody is [a size 2]. Hollywood needs to get over the stick figure.”

This is My Now
At only 19, Jordin is at the top of her game. Her sophomore album, ‘Battlefield’, dropped in July and the critics are loving it! “‘Battlefield’ is overwhelmingly a knockout CD, a funky mix of dance-pop and contemporary R&B with traces of techno and soft rock,” said music reviewer Tyrone S. Reid.

So what can fans expect from this latest album? “This album has a little more attitude, but not to the point it isn’t still the same girl people know. I think the most growth is in my voice, which has gained strength from touring and performing.” says Jordin. Rock on girl!

This summer, Jordin toured with teen superstars and close friends the Jonas Brothers. She is currently performing for sold out crowds as the coveted opening act for Britney Spears hit ‘Circus’ tour.
