VIVA LAS VEGAS!
This week on BEEN THERE, we hear from 11-year-old Emily from Michigan who tells us about Las Vegas...
Before I tell you about the sights in Las Vegas let me tell you that this mega-resort town is in a desert so summer temperatures typically top 100 degrees Fahrenheit while winter months see the mercury plummet to 40 degrees!
Now I will tell you some of the sights you can see in Nevada's gambling/entertainment Mecca.
You can see replicas of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe at the Paris Hotel and Casino. You can also see replicas of the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building at New York, New York hotel and casino. There is an aquarium with a ton of fish. You can even pet a stingray!!
There is a roller coaster that goes around a hotel. In another hotel there is a canal where you can take a boat ride just like in
Venice, Italy. In Caesar's Palace, statues talk. In front of the beautiful Bellagio (where Ocean's 11 was filmed) there are "dancing" fountains which sway and play along to lovely classical music. And, yet another, Treasure Island, hosts a live-action pirate show every hour where you get to watch pirates fight and the hotel even catches on fire!! In another hotel, aptly called The Flamingo, bright pink flamingos run wild outside. And, there's even one, the Luxor, that is a replica of a giant Egyptian pyramid!
When you go to Las Vegas, it's like getting to go to lots of cool countries all in one stop!
