CIAO, ITALIA! By: Mariah, 10, TX (aka CyprusChickadee)
Let me tell you about Italia, Miss O Scoop! I’ve
been to Italy 9 times (I’m not kidding). My family
owns a small house there, on a hill, which happens
to be soooooo bumpy. It’s basically in a town called
Tuoro, but my dad says it’s on the border of
somewhere.
Next there’re the cool places and stores. There’s
a really popular town called Perugia, and if you’ve
ever heard if the Umbria Jazz Fest, that’s where
it’s held. It has a great silk shop called Fatto A
Mano, and it has millions of colors of bags and
purses and clothes and shoes and scarves and shawls
AND MORE!! It also has a great owner who speaks
English. In Perugia is a small jewelry shop that’s
just GREAT. The owner speaks English. In 2005, there
was a small candy store called Sweet Sweet Way. Now
it’s moved, but it’s still in Perugia, and it’s
bigger and better and has Gelato. (Gelato is ice
cream, just better!) Then there’s a bakery called
Sandri’s which is really great.
The next town is Cortona. It has a great shop
with little glittery boxes and little silk frogs and
pens. It ALSO had an AWESOME hoodie... :( which I
didn’t buy. Wish I had.
There’s also a pizzeria and there’s a playground
next to it. Speaking of playgrounds, there’s another
one in Cortona... believe me, the bathroom is
CREEPY! You want to know why? Because you pay two
euro’s to get in, and then the door is like steel,
right? So, you go in, and the door like locks on you
and it’s this tiny cubicle with a steel door and
walls and when you press a button on the door the
toilet flushes and the door opens. It is soooo
creepy!
And next up is the city (town) Deruta. I call it
the Land of Pottery. I mean, every store has a ton
of pottery in it. In fact, in one of them, there’s a
man who owns it and he made all of them in his
store. He speaks some English, and he plays
guitar... but two of his guitars are completely made
of ceramics!!! They’re so cool... and he painted
them himself... they’re so awesome; they’re not even
for sale!! If they where, I bet he could make a
couple million dollars... Deruta’s pretty awesome.
More about Tuoro... Well, you see, it has this
festival every summer called Festa Del Torro. Torro
means bull. At the Festa, there’s an awesome ride
which is a huge... cylinder... with a lot of swings
on it and it goes around, fast and high, and you try
to grab this thingy and if you do you get like two
free turns on it. It’s cool.
There’s this awesome restaurant called the Ciao
Ciao... it has great food, great pizza, great
gelato, a cool arcade, trampolines, racecars, bumper
boats, and balls. It is soooo awesome! That’s about
it. Wait, there’s one more city. Passignano. It’s on
the lake. It’s totally a tourist town. Everyone
speaks English, but it’s fun.
Basically, I heart Italia! Italy rox!! |
