PERSONAL JOURNAL: MISS O AT CAMP

This summer I did something I've never really done before, I went to sleepaway camp! The camp in which I spent two awesome weeks is called Camp Mohawk and is an all girls camp in Connecticut. Like a lot of people, the first night I was there I got very homesick, but my counselor Meg was so cool and I met some awesome girls so my homesickness wasn't as bad. Camp ended up being really fun!

I did arts and crafts a lot and we got to make candles and jewelry. It was simple but fun. I made all sorts of bracelets and I got to tie dye shirts also! I also did swimming, but it was a little tough because I'm not the best swimmer and I got tired quickly.

Every Wednesday, the camp has a cookout where we get hotdogs, hamburgers, ribs and BBQ chicken. The cookout nights were my favorite food nights!

The camp also did special things on certain nights. Like one night my cabin slept out on the beach with our sleeping bags. It was funny because in the morning we woke up and our sleeping bags were covered with dew!

Another night we had to take a pillow case and fill it up with some stuff we had in our cabin. Then every cabin would go to the dining hall and we played a really fun game. In the game, someone would say, for example, "bring to your judge a purple toothbrush" and if you had it and brought it to the judge you would get points for your bunk. At the end, they would tally up all the votes and see who won. Our cabin came in 5th place out of 20.

I got really sad to say goodbye to some of my new friends because we had so much fun, but I guess I was ready to go home.

"I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again, oh babe I hate to go"… this is a lyric from a song that makes me think of camp!
