
TIPS FOR BATTLING THE VACATION BLUES By: Amanda, 10, (aka bookworm34)
The
Vacation blues isn’t like any normal virus. You
don’t get sick like you have the flu or anything. It
is a sickness you can spread, but not by germs, but
feelings and actions. I know because I have caught
the virus many times as I’ve traveled. You miss your
room and your friends, maybe even school! But the
most common symptom is being bored.
Here are some temporary cures for the vacation
blues.
- Write in a journal about what is happening
right now even if it’s boring. Write down how
you feel at that exact moment or what you think
your friends are doing.
- Make up hand pets or imaginary friends. It
may seem babyish but they make you feel a lot
better especially if you are missing your
friends.
- Draw or make up things in a journal. Create
new planets or an alien race. Let your
imagination run wild!
- Make up a trading card game and cards. Pass
them out to your friends when you get home.
- Put together a script for a play or make up
a TV show. Imagine it in your head.
