My Favorite Book of All Time Is…. Love that Dog by Sharon Creech

I like to write because… I find that writing stories is a way of expressing myself through another person in my stories. You get to create emotions and feelings, and dream up a person's life. I love to create, and writing is my passion.

Excerpt from her story...
The next day, as I was going outside to catch the bus, my dad gave me back the paper. He had signed me up for basketball. I could see how happy he was, but to me it was heartbreaking. At school, all my friends asked if I had joined the soccer team. I told them I was doing basketball instead. My best friend Mia could tell there was more to it.

"Is it your dad again?" she asked.

"You better believe it." I said glumly.

"You need to tell him you don't want to take basketball and you do want to take soccer," she said. "He will understand. If not, you can blame it on me, okay?"
