Excerpt from her story...
Annie sighed. Life was hard enough. They were in sixth grade now, the youngest kids in Brook Middle School. The school was bigger, badder, and scarier than their elementary school. Why did Nikki have to make it even worse? Annie raced to class as the bell rang.

After school Annie waited outside for Nikki. She finally saw Nikki slink out. Nikki seemed to slouch as she slugged along. "Come on, Nikki! Let's go! Why were you late? Everyone else left. Do you want to talk? I'm worried about you," Annie said, wondering how Nikki would react. Annie had gotten a little scared of Nikki lately. She was intimidating.

Nikki narrowed her darkening green eyes. "Shut up, Annie. Stay out of my life. Nothing is wrong. The only thing wrong is talking to you! As of now, we are no longer best friends!"
