REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

You've probably heard of the three R's before - but did you know that these are the keys to unlocking your greenie potential??

Greenies REDUCE their waste by doing simple things like taking shorter showers in the morning (OK I know that's super hard to do but consider cutting 5 minutes off your shower time and rewarding yourself by doing 5 minutes more of something else you love to do in the morning - fave TV shows anyone?!) You could also try to reduce the number of packaged foods you buy at lunch - like this: instead of reaching for that bag of chips grab a piece of fruit! Not only are you reducing your waste but you're doing something healthy for your body! Duh.

Greenies can REUSE in so many ways. For example, bring your lunch to school in reusable containers. Instead of buying a new backpack, use the one from last year and use the money you saved to start rainy day fund. And how about this, don't throw away or recycle that plastic bottle yet! If you've only used it once, fill it up with filtered water and use it a couple more times rather than buying new. Each year people throw away enough plastic bottles to fill football stadiums to the brim!

And last but obviously not least, greenies RECYCLE in so many ways! Donate your old clothing to Salvation Army or the Goodwill - or even better, see if you can get some money back by selling them to a used clothing store! Use that money to buy something "lightly used", not only are vintage T's super trendy right now, they're also recycled! Of course greenies go out of their way to recycle used glass, plastics, aluminum cans, newspaper, cardboard, and anything else they can!

Have you used the three R's lately to demonstrate your superb greenie-ness? Write us and tell us all about it! Can't wait to hear from you!
