Ways to be Green
By: Kati, 10 (aka sweetsoccergirl )
We all want to help our planet, but we don’t know
how. We all know that we can recycle bottles, cans,
paper, and lots of other things, but we never think
to do it. But there are lots more that we can to do
help our planet. Don’t be the average person and
just recycle, go above and beyond in helping the
earth! For example, if you have lots of old toys and
clothes that you don’t want anymore, have a garage
sale. That way other people can use the things you
won’t. Also, don’t buy toothpaste tubes, buy
plastic, recyclable ones. So the next time that
you’re going to throw away that old Barbie doll,
think about this article. Thank you and I hope you
enjoyed reading this article.
The Earth Club
By: Laura, 11 (aka Animal_Kinz)
When I got to my new middle school, there were no
recycling programs at all. My cousin and I thought
that we could change that. I wrote articles in the
school newspaper. We told teachers, and a few were
eager to help. After anxious meetings with
Principals and staff, it was finally official. The
Earth Club would be up and ready for sign ups next
year. We planned Animal Shelter donations, recycling
cans, meetings, litter pick-ups, gardens, and so
much more. One or two kids/tweens can make a
difference, big or small. I did my part, now you get
out and do yours!
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
By: Rachel, 13 (aka coolcat122095)
If you are reading this article you are probably
wondering how you can help the planet and reduce
your carbon foot print. A great way is to Reuse!
- Hand-me down clothes are much better for the
environment because it cuts down on the amount
of gases used to make new clothes. If you don’t
like the old clothes, alter them to fit your
style.
- If you have old papers from school that
don’t have anything on the back. Use them as
scratch paper. This reduces the amount of trees
that have to be cut down.
- Simple things that you might throw away can
be made into art such as wrapping paper and
glass bottles. There are plenty of books at the
library that have pages and pages of thrifty
crafts. You can even make money off of the
crafts you create.
Remember that anything that you can’t reuse,
recycle them! |
