Accessorize in a Greenie Way

Here are some great tips to stay green when picking out accessories.

  1. Braided Bracelets. Braided bracelets are becoming a very popular trend and are easy to make rather than buy especially with peace signs. Visit http://www.planetpals.com/IKC/peacebracelet.html to learn how to make friendship and braided bracelets.

  2. Capri Sun purses. With your parents help, you can make a purse out of old Capri sun boxes. This way you are recycling them and making a fashion statement. To learn how to make Capri sun purses go to http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Capri-Sun-Purse

  3. Buy indie. Rather than going to the mall or other well known shopping centers, go to the booths or little shops that are selling things that are more artistic or creative. Not only do you own something that no one else does, the quality is probably better, it will save you money, and reduce the pollution that is being pumped into the air from the factories creating what goes into the malls.

  4. Borrow. If you don’t own something that you know a family member or friend does, ask if you can borrow it to reduce production and to save money for yourself.

  5. Repair your own wares. If you notice that something is coming undone on your sweater or that your necklace is broken, repair them yourself. Restring your necklace and re-sew the strands that are coming undone on your clothing.

  6. Make sure whatever you are reusing or redoing will have a purpose to it. Make sure you will eventually use it.
