The Obama Girls, Malia and Sasha, moved in to the infamous White House on January 20, 2009 after their father was sworn in as President of the United States of America. Sasha is the youngest child to live in The White House since John F. Kennedy Jr. Malia, born on the Fourth of July, is not the first White House inhabitant to have that birthdate, President Calvin Coolidge was. While their mother and father were on the campaign trail the Obama girls were looked after by their Grandmother, Marian Robinson. With their grandmother's help the girls were able to continue their schooling as well as keep their summer plans as normal as possible.
While they lived in Chicago, it was reported that Malia participated in soccer, dance and drama and Sasha did gymnastics and tap. Both girls reportedly played soccer and took piano lessons. During his acceptance speech in November of 2008, President-Elect Barack Obama publicly announced the family would get a dog to go with their new house. He had promised them a dog if he won the election. It's rumored that the dog will be a Portugese Water Dog. Malia is allergic to dog dander so they've had to work around her allergies. Both girls are also rumored to be 'Harry Potter' fans, as well as 'Hannah Montana' fans. The girls' new home has a swimming pool, a bowling alley and a movie theater.
Malia and Sasha attended the Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future concert which featured performances by the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Corbin Bleu, Demi Lovato, Bow Wow and Usher. And, while their parents partied at several Inauguration Balls, Malia and Sasha had a small(ish) party of their own at their new residence. They entertained their friends with private screenings of 'Bolt' and 'High School Musical 3' in The White House Screening Room. Then they participated in a scavenger hunt that aimed to get them acquainted with their new "home." In the East Room they found the Jonas Brothers waiting for them. The group played three acoustic songs and then posed for pics with each of the young guests at the party.
