Childhood/ Early Career
Liam Hemsworth was born on January 13th, 1990 to parents Craig and Leonie. He was the baby of the family, with two older brothers, Chris and Luke. “I grew up close to Melbourne, about two hours outside, on Phillip Island. It's really small, it's kind of a little summer beach town. I spent a lot of time surfing with my brothers,” he says.

Growing up, Liam watched his older brothers acting, but he thought it was more of a fun hobby than a future career. “I’ve been acting for about two and a half to three years. I grew up watching Chris and Luke do it, then in high school I started taking it seriously, got an agent and did some Australian TV, like the show ‘Neighbors’ for a little while.”

At age 16 Liam got an agent and began landing bit parts on Australian TV shows. He played a paralyzed former athlete on the soap opera ‘Neighbors’ and a guitarist on the children’s show ‘The Elephant Princess’.

In March 2009, Liam left his native Australia to try his luck in Los Angeles. He moved in with his actor brother Chris and began screen testing for various movies. Little did he know that one of them, ‘The Last Song’ would be his big break!
