Growing Up
Cody was born on January 11th, 1997, the oldest child of Brad (an investment company owner) and Angie Simpson. He grew up in Queensland on the Gold Coast of Australia. He has a sister named Alli and a brother named Tom.

Both of his parents had been competitive swimmers and Cody was no different. He became a standout racer at the swimming club in his hometown, even earning two gold medals from the Queensland Swimming Championship!

Cody's musical talent also stood out as a child. After seeing his dad play guitar at parties and barbeques, seven year old Cody asked for lessons. After just a couple of classes, his teacher called his parents to tell them he had never seen anything like Cody's talent. He was that good!

Getting Discovered
Even though Cody had a normal childhood, he felt destined for big things in either music or swimming. He even had his mom reserve the web name www.codysimpson.com for him at 10 years old!

As Cody got more and more into his music, he convinced his parents to let him post some of his performances on YouTube to see what kind of reaction he'd get. The world took notice! His smooth pop vocals and boyish charm came to the attention of big-time American record producer Shawn Campbell, who flew Cody to the United States to see the young singer in person. Cody was signed to Atlantic Records in April 2010 and his life as a pop star began.

Rising Star
So much has happened for Cody in a year's time! His family has moved from Australia to Los Angeles to support him while he begins his career. He has recorded two catchy pop singles, ‘iYiYi' (with Flo Rida) and ‘Summertime', and filmed music videos to go along with them. His debut album is due to be released this winter. He won the Nickelodeon Australian Kids Choice Fresh Aussie Musos Award for 2010. Cody is currently out making new fans all across America in a tour of middle schools and radio stations.
