How to Throw an Awesome Party

Are you tired of having the same old traditional birthday party every year? I am here to give you some fun theme ideas for your next party. Whether you are turning nine or fourteen, whether you want to invite a few friends or your entire class, or whether your birthday is in spring or summer or fall or winter, these theme ideas will suit everybody!
1. Hawaiian Luau- This theme is perfect for the girl who loves the beach. Greet guests the Hawaiian way by placing pretend lei (available at most party stores) around their neck. Make smoothies and serve tropical fruits and cheddar fish-shaped crackers. Do the limbo under a limbo stick and play Musical Beach Towels (like Musical Chairs) to reggae music. Make sand art by pouring different colors of sand into little bottles or baby-food jars. Play beach volleyball with a beach ball. If you have a pool at your house and it is summer, go swimming! Goody bags can include cheap flip-flops, sunglasses, paper fans, inflatable beach balls, and small water pistols or squirt toys.
2. Relaxing Spa Day- This theme is perfect for the girl who loves to be pampered. Set up spa stations around the room with labels such as "Manicures", "Pedicures", and "Facials", and have someone such as your mother or older sister help with each station. Have a table with different kinds of lotion and nail polish for your guests to try out. Serve healthy snacks such as fruit smoothies, fruit kabobs, water bottles, yogurt parfaits, raw vegetables and ranch dip, or freshly baked bread or muffins. Goody bags can include bottles of nail polish, mini combs or brushes, nail files or clippers, mini bottles of lotion, or tubes of lip balm.
3. Pop Star Concert- This theme is perfect for the girl who isn’t afraid to unleash her inner superstar. If you have a karaoke machine, set that up in the party room, but if you don’t, just make the perfect play list of popular songs and play that for your guests to sing along to. Decorate the party area with white holiday lights or strobe lights to make it look like a stage. When guests arrive, have your mother or older sister help do their hair and makeup, and then let the show begin! Guests can sing, or if they are too shy, have a pretend guitar or keyboard (made out of cardboard and painted) for them to "play". Have a parent or older sibling videotape the performance. Afterwards, watch it while eating...well, anything is fine here! Goody bags can include tubes of lip gloss, sunglasses, inflatable microphones or guitars, body glitter, or a CD of the songs from your performance earlier.
I hope after reading this, you will be inspired to start planning your next big bash! Just remember that the biggest secret to throwing an awesome party isn’t impressing everybody, it is to invite the people that you most like to hang out with and having a great time with them! |
