DON'T QUIT
By: Abigail, 9 (aka LOLLIPOP12345 )

Today I read a poem that had a life long lesson in it, don’t quit and never give up. I think the author is trying to tell me that when you do something, never give up, because when you have reached your goal you will feel very successful. When I have to clean the house with my mom and sister I don’t want to, but once it is clean, I feel good about myself. Also, if you are frustrated, you need to keep trying because your goal to be accomplished could be right around the corner. If you stop, you won’t succeed and reach your goal. You might think something is hard but it is only because you think it’s hard. I think the author is trying to inspire people to never give up and always keep trying. Everybody should go confidently in the direction of their dreams and know that success is a journey, not a destination. You should never settle for less than your best. My opinion is that the author should have focused on one main idea, but the author wrote the poem so it applied to everyone. To me it applies to learning. It made me think of learning in a different way. It will help me think outside the box and stretch my thinking onto a different level. I do agree that the author could have said the poem more clearly. The author could have chosen one subject and elaborated on that one point. If this was my poem, I would have focused on one main idea. I also would apply it to someone my age. For example, if it was on learning I would have said to not quit on learning new math skills like multiplication, geometry and many other skills. Also, remember to not quit during challenges in math and in other subjects. When I learn a new multiplication fact and I can’t memorize it, I don’t give up and keep trying. When I write a really short paragraph, I keep trying and trying to elaborate on that one subject. I like the poem; it really made me think how it related to my life and other people. Always remember to never give up, keep trying but don’t quit at anything because once you are finished, you will feel very successful at what you did.
