PARENTS
WON'T GET YOU A PET?
By: Megan, 10 (aka Beachgirl222222)
Most kids around my neighborhood don’t have pets.
They really want a dog, a cat, or any other animal.
Well, most parents want to see responsibility.
That’s easy to start out with- look at the tips
below!
- Think about what the pet might need- a cage, food,
water, etc.
- Feed your pet everyday.
- Give your pet water everyday.
- Play with your pet- you’ll become closer!
- Spend time with your pet, if you got a pet and
don’t hangout with it, you will move apart.
Now, that’s done. Now it depends what type of pet
you want. My suggestion is cat or dog. Cats are
small and easy to carry. Dogs (golden retrievers and
black retrievers) are the best pets for dogs. Now,
if you want a mouse or anything else... I suggest
you talk to your parents extra careful. Don’t beg,
because that will make it more that they don’t want
it.
Good Luck!
(By the way, if you don’t know what type of pet to
get I suggest purchasing a good animal book. Look
through it and see what you find cute- and
interesting.)
CUTE
HAMMYS (all you need to know!!)
By: Natalie, 12 (aka Horseluvforeva)
Have
you every wanted a cute furry little hamster? Well I
know I did and now that’s what I have! My very own
bundle of fun!!! If you are ever considering a hammy
then here are a few bonuses about them:
- They are nocturnal which means they sleep in
the day when you’re at school and means they
wake up when you get back and never even notice
you were gone!!
- They are very clean as they groom themselves
so a bath is never usually necessary!
- They are very funny to watch and love
cuddles once they get used to you!!!
I hope you enjoy your time with your new
hammy!!!!
Okay so, you’ve tried it ALL and your parents
just won’t give into a pet! Don’t lose hope!! You
can, help out at your local shelter. Visit by your
closest shelter and say hi to the animals and ask
about volunteering. You maybe be able to work there
for about an hour or more a week and clean up after
the animals and give them some love. It’s a great
way to bond with an animal!! And maybe your parents
will see you’re responsible enough to take care of
those animals, you could have your own. I hope you
have a special friend soon!!!!
GUINEA
PIGS
By: Bria, 13 (aka pizzalover1)
I,
as a guinea pig owner, have some advice if you’re
looking to buy a guinea pig.
Choosing a guinea pig: I highly recommend the
short-haired guinea pigs. I got a long-haired guinea
pig, and I love her, but long-haired ones are harder
to manage. Their long hair needs to be brushed more
often, and can get matted.
Buying a guinea pig: I recommend going to a local
animal shelter or buying it from someone who can’t
take care of his or hers anymore. There are lots of
good pets in animal shelters, and this can be good
if you don’t want to take care of it for quite as
long. One website that has good information on
guinea pigs and their diet and such is
www.jackiesguineapiggies.com. I hope this helped!
