STYLE FILE: SPLIT ENDS
Q: "I was wondering how you can get rid of your split-ends. I have so many of them and want them gone without having to cut my hair."
Valerie, 13, WI
A:
Actually, the best way to get rid of split ends is to get a trim every 8 weeks or so. This will help keep your hair healthy and manageable and when your hair is healthy, split ends will stay away! Split ends happen more often if hair is dry or fine, so take good care of hair in between trims. Use a natural bristle brush, which is gentler on hair and won't tug or break it. Also, be sure to use conditioner after you shampoo. Try Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner, it makes hair super soft and smells great! If you live in a sunny climate or are outdoors a lot, cover your hair in the sun with a hat. Just like the sun can burn skin, it can damage your pretty locks as well. If you need some extra damage control, you can also try a leave in conditioning spray like Aveda Styling Curessence, which will fortify hair and help protect it all day.
