Everyone loves the feeling of going shopping and wearing something new. It gives
you a sense of happiness and fun. But when you stop to think about other people
who don’t have all the things you’re lucky to have, you realize that there’s so
much that you can do- and now you can. There are so many products that you can
buy for yourself that look good while also doing good, but here are a few:
The (Red) Campaign is famous for being
headed by Bono, lead singer of the band U2. The
(Red) Campaign focuses on raising money to
eliminate AIDS in Africa and it’s a group of
different companies that sell red products. The
most popular products are Gap’s Inspi (Red)
shirts, which are great tees you and your
friends can wear. They’re made from 100% African
cotton in Lesotho, a country in Africa. What’s
great is that 50% of the profits the (Red)
Campaign go to the Global Fund in Africa to
Rwanda, Swaziland and Ghana. When you buy one
inspi (Red) shirt, you’re providing 42 treatments
for a mother and her baby for AIDS prevention.
You can also buy red jackets, backpacks,
Converse shoes, iPODs, Razrs and Hallmark cards.
So far girls like you and people all over the
world have already helped raise $60 million! How
cool is that? You can learn more at joinred.com.
Invisible Children is an organization that
is helping bring peace to Northern Uganda and
the children who have to live through it
everyday. They raise money for schools and work
to get the American government and the Ugandan
government to make peace treaties with the
rebels. The children who live there are
kidnapped and forced to be child soldiers,
leaving their education and loved ones behind.
You can help make them visible by buying any of
their shirts and jackets at

Remember, you shouldn’t be wearing products-with-a-cause to be trendy, although
of course, they’re all great additions to the wardrobe. Take the time to think
about where your money is going and find an organization that you’re passionate
about. Shirts can start up great conversations, so talk to your friends and help
spread the word. Together we can all make a difference!
