FASHION ADVICE
By: Jessica, 10, FL (aka VietPrincess)

When you went to the mall, have you ever seen this beautiful top that you want, but didn’t have enough money for? (I’m talkin’ 5 months of baby-sitting!) Well I’ve got some advice for you. If you want to buy a cute top but don’t want to spend a lot of money on it, save most of your money and buy a cheap tank top (dark colors recommended), buy lace that you could find in the Dollar Store (bright colors recommended), glitter glue, and if you know how to sew, buy some thread that matches your top, and if you don’t know how to sew, use nail glue, and last there’s something you don’t need to buy, your imagination!

Now what you do is take your tank top, sew or glue the lace on the shoulder of the top, now use your glitter glue to write your cute message on your top. Now you have a cute top that you spent less than $50 on your top, when you probably would spend more than $150 on the expensive top. So keep reading Jessica’s Fashion Advice Column!

ADD THIS DIY TO YOUR CLOSET: CRAYON BATIK T-SHIRT
By: navya, 10, MI (aka Jasmine_1)

Things you will need:

  • White cotton t-shirt
  • Crayons
  • Paper towels
  • Iron and an ironing board

Using crayons press down hard and draw a design on the t-shirt. Dampen a few layers paper towels and lay the t-shirt between the paper towels. Next, with an adult’s help, press the paper towels dry with an iron set on low (no steam) to melt the crayon design. The results look SUPER!!!

FUN TIP: It’s much more fun with friends!

DIY: FLOWER HAIR CLIPS
By: Jackie, 11, MD (aka missBANG)

Materials:

  • Plain hair clip or bobby pin (clip preferred. You can buy this anywhere)
  • Silk or fake flowers (Can find at any Craft Store)
  • Hot glue gun (craft stores)

Instructions:

  1. You want to first take the stem out of the flower. To do this, just pull the stem out of the flower.
  2. There will still be a little stub at the bottom so cut that off too.
  3. If you want to, you can apply a layer of fake leaves to the clip first by hot gluing them along the edges. ONLY PUT GLUE ON THE TOP SIDE!!!
  4. Add a flower of any size to the clip. If you added a layer of leaves, glue the flower anywhere on the leaf.
  5. Let dry overnight and then wear in your hair!
