DIY ZEN: Build a Rock Garden
When life seems totally chaotic and frantic, turn to your own special serene space for solace – this funky do-it-yourself rock garden!
Combing the sand (or, in this case, salt) creates a feeling of tranquility and calms the senses and helps remind us to appreciate the small things in life.
Psst. The things you'll need can be found at any crafts store. Also, the rock garden pictured here is professionally made and is just to give you an idea of what you're going for…yours will look different because a) it'll be round and, b) it'll be your own cool creation!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Plaster of Paris
- 2 plastic drainage dishes (one 7", one 8") that are usually used for potted plants
- Disposable bucket for mixing the plaster
- Water
- Paint stick or something you can ruin to mix plaster with
- Heavy book
- Sandpaper (100 or 120 grit)
- Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrush
- Salt (or, if you live near the beach, get some sand)
- Rocks or Marbles...whichever you prefer.
