MAKE A NEW WARDROBE (well, sort of)
Eleven year-old Michaela from Michigan (aka hotgirl123) submitted the following DIY how-to.
Tired of having to wear the same old clothes every week to school or out to a friend's house? Isn't everybody?? Well get creative and make your own clothes! All you need is an old shirt (or a new shirt that you are willing to cut) or even an old pair of jeans and some craft supplies such as markers, finger paint, or even spray paint, etc.
Old T-Shirt Supplies:
an old white or light color T-Shirt
some markers, paint, etc.
Instead of having to wear the same old clothes everyday why don't you spark up your wardrobe and make some of those old shirts into your very own creations!
First take the old shirt and wash it and dry it and iron it if you really need to! All you need to do next is draw all over the shirt! And abracadabra…you have a very new shirt made just by you!
New Shirt Supplies:
New shirt that your mom won't ground you for cutting!
Scissors (and a parent to help)
A pair of hands (yours, I would hope)
Maybe you have a fairly new shirt but it's just a little bit big, but you don't want to wash it over and over again till the color starts to fade! Well I have a solution for you! All you need to do is cut and tie, cut and tie, cut and tie!
- First, lay the shirt on a flat surface then smooth the shirt out flat so there are no bumps (even better do this on an ironing board so you can iron it first!)
- Next, have your parent or older sibling help you. Take the scissors and cut up the side seam on one side (just for now).
- Then, you take the cut side seam and cut from the outside in until you make flat fringes along one whole side.
- Finally, you match up the fringes and tie them together almost like making a fleece blanket!
Now, do that on the other side and when you are done, you have a new funky shirt that everybody will LOVE!
