GET CRAFTY THIS DECEMBER

Happy December! Hey, Let's GET CRAFTY – Here are 7 fun things to do this month courtesy of the cool book "My DIY" by Kim Potts.

candy canes
1. A new twist on an old favorite: Dip the bottom half of candy canes in melted white chocolate chips, and cover in holiday colored sprinkles or crushed candy canes.

2. DIY Gift: Using sheets of magnetic backing (available at office supply stores), make personalized magnets with photos of family and friends, magazine cutouts, catalog pics or your own drawings and computer designs.

snowflakes
3. Decorate It: Make paper snowflakes with different color papers and decorate the family fridge or your bedroom door.

4. DIY Gift: Instead of making one mixed CD, why not make 4 or 5 and give your own personalized box set? Make the set a theme: all love songs, all dance music, each disc devoted to one artist, all TV theme songs, each disc a movie soundtrack, etc.

5. Make construction paper garland. You know, the kind you used to make in grade school, by cutting strips of paper, looping them around each other and stapling or gluing them together into a chain?

drizzles
6. DIY Gift: A great gift for a friend of loved one who likes to bake – fill each well of a muffin tin with different small candies or snacks (candy hearts, sprinkles, mini chocolate kisses, mini M&Ms, colored sugars, Goldfish crackers, crushed Oreos, etc.), wrap the entire tin in cellophane or plastic wrap and tie with a ribbon. A nice extra touch: since you've given baking supplies and a baking pan, why not include a cookie or cake recipe with the gift? Find one in the Miss O Cookbook (like Miss O's Chocolate Drizzles, pictured).

7. DIY Gift: Buy plain Christmas ornaments and write a name or a design (tip: a pencil eraser dipped in glue makes a perfect dot design!) on them with glue. Sprinkle colored glitters or tiny beads over the glue for a very cool, handmade heirloom.
