FLIPPING FOR FLIP-FLOPS!

Once only worn by retirees playing shuffleboard in Boca and the Athlete's-Foot-From-The-Shower-At-The-Gym-Paranoid, this summer, the dime-store denizen flip flop is KING!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Pair of rubber flip flops
  • Big silk flower
  • Fishing Line or very strong thread
  • Needle
  • Strong Glue (Liquid Nails or E6000)
  • Scissors
WHAT TO DO:
  • Wrap fishing line around the toe of the thong strap and tie a knot. Leave a couple of feet dangling on both ends.
  • Thread one end through the needle.
  • De-stem your flower and snip off the plastic nub that remains.
  • Push the needle and thread through one side of the flower and out the other. Be careful, though. There's probably some other hard plastic hidden between the petals making the potential for jabbing yourself pretty great.
  • Wrap the fishing line around the toe, tie a knot and begin again.
  • Repeat the process until you feel the flower is secure, 5 or 6 times should be good.
NOTE: For added strength, squeeze a little blob of glue under the flower.
  • Once the glue dries, like in 24 hours, try on your new thongs. If the petals are too big and cover up your tootsies, trim them down with scissors.
