MAKE A FAB & COMFY DECORATOR PILLOW
pillows
Eleven year-old Jackie from New York submitted the following DIY "Decorator Pillow" how-to.

Here's What You Need:

  • Cotton or polyester stuffing (It can be from an old stuffed animal, from an old pillow or bought at a craft store)
  • Fabric you like. Whatever pattern appeals to you!
  • A hot glue gun or a needle and thread to sew it (It works well both ways, but I suggest the hot glue because it's faster) Be sure to have a parent help you
  • A pair of scissors
  • Anything to add flair – like rhinestones, ribbon, etc.

Here's How to Make It:

  1. Cut a big square out of your fabric (it depends on how big you want your pillow)
  2. Fold the square in half.
  3. If you are HOT GLUING your pillow, hot glue two sides of it together. If you are SEWING your pillow, sew two sides of it together.
  4. Shove the stuffing into the remaining open end. (Don't put too much, or else it will be over stuffed, but don't put too little, because it will be flat)
  5. After putting the cotton in, glue or sew that side.
  6. Now it's time to add your flair! You're better off hot gluing things like jewels or shells while sewing is the way to go for ribbons, buttons or patches.
  7. NOW YOU HAVE A PILLOW!! CONGRATULATIONS!
