Tiffany sat down in her seat in art class. Everyone sat down. A new girl named Joanna came in and sat down too. She will have no idea what to paint, Tiffany thought. The art teacher, Mrs. Brown, said, ´I want you all to paint joy.´ Mrs. Brown had different feelings how to do art. A splat of paint on paper was a painting of CHAOS to Mrs. Brown. And Joanna had no idea. Tiffany couldn’t explain because there was no talking in class. Joanna stared blankly. Tiffany started painting bunches of pink circles. Big and Small. Mrs. Brown looked at everyone’s paintings. When she reached Tiffany’s, she said, ´How is this JOY?´ Tiffany said, ´Happiness and joy all comes from the heart. The color of JOY and happiness is pink. Now we all know hearts aren’t shaped like the kinds on a card from a game. I decided to paint blobs for a heart. This painting shows the joy that comes from the heart and a lovely color. Pink. This is JOY!´ ´Tiffany Samuels! That was great! You know art.´ Joanna interrupted the conversation. ´That’s art even? It’s joy? So if I just paint some pink blobs, I would have painted JOY? Should I do that?´ Mrs. Brown answered, ´Oh no! Joanna, that is Tiffany’s joy. You must think of your own joy. Have imagination.´ Mrs. Brown walked away. Joanna ended up painting many happy faces for her JOY. ´Not as creative as I wanted it to be...´ was all Mrs. Brown said to everyone. She said, ´It’s beautiful!´ to only Tiffany. As Tiffany walked to her next class, she could hear her art classmates saying to their friends, ´That’s ART???!!!´ I have a lot of talent! thought Tiffany and chuckled at herself. |
