OVER THE HEDGE (PG)

Bruce Willis, funny, funny guy Steve Carrell and, (in her film debut) Avril Lavigne are among the celeb-types who lend their vocal talents to the clever new movie, "Over the Hedge" from the animation geniuses at DreamWorks and based on the long-running comic strip of the same name. The gist? An interesting take on what the relationship between the animals who eat your trash could be like. As producer Bonnie Arnold who also worked on Toy Story told Entertainment Weekly magazine, ''We've all had a possum or a raccoon get in the garbage or seen a squirrel on a wire when you go out in the morning, or a skunk under the house. We thought those would be fun characters you'd want to spend time with.'' And, for our money, it'll be super-cool to hear Avril be an opossum.
