What can you see from the top of the Gateway Arch? Well, look down and behold the powerful Mississippi river. Look to the West on a clear day and you'll see St. Louis. Cast a glance to the right and catch Illinois. If it's not clear, at least you don't have to worry about being hit by lightning – the arch boasts a series of rods that are grounded directly into bedrock, so it can withstand the hundreds of lightning bolts that hit it every year. Comforting, huh?
