Talk about a labor of love...Built by emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 to immortalize and enshrine his beloved wife who died after giving birth to their 14th (!) child, construction of the Taj Mahal, which means "Crown of the Region," took 20,000 sculptors, masons, craftsmen and calligraphers from as far away as France, Turkey and Italy, about 22 years to complete.
